A sound-alike phrase game for friends
Gibberish is a sound-alike word game where odd-looking words hide a familiar answer. Read a clue aloud and listen for the word or phrase inside it. You might recognize an everyday expression, a movie title, a song, or something from your favorite game.
Everyone sees the same clue and types their own guesses at the same time. Play free in your browser with 1–24 players, on separate phones, tablets or computers. Guests can play without creating an account or installing anything.
Gibberish game examples with answers
Try saying each clue a few times before opening its answer. Start with the first example, then try reconstructing the longer phrase.
My Crow Phone — reveal answer
Microphone. Blend “my crow” together, then add “phone.” The spaces in the clue do not match the word you are trying to hear.
Jus Tay Kitty Zee — reveal answer
Just Take It Easy. Move the word boundaries as you say the clue. The answer is a familiar thing to say, rather than the literal meaning of the words.
Pie Ruts Of The Carry Bee Un — reveal answer
Pirates of the Caribbean. A longer title can take several readings to recognize. Listen to the whole phrase instead of solving each clue word separately.
Play online with friends, or practice solo
Create a private lobby and share its invite link or code. Friends join on their own devices. To find other players, browse public lobbies or create a public room. One person can also start a private match alone for solo practice.
A correct answer earns 50–100 points based on the time left on the shared clock. Wrong guesses cost no points, and you can try again while time remains. When everyone solves, or the timer ends, the answer appears for three seconds before the next clue.
The host chooses 1–100 rounds, No Round Limit, or a race to 1,500 points, with 30, 45 or 60 seconds per clue. In a points race, everyone can finish the clue where the target is reached; the player with the highest score at the end wins. Tied leaders share the win. With No Round Limit, the host can choose Finish game. Everyone finishes the current clue before the final scores and clue feedback appear.
Joining friends mid-match puts you straight into the current clue with zero points and the time remaining. If the answer is already being revealed, you play from the next clue. The group's timer and scores stay in place.
Choose your phrases and difficulty
The collection includes over 1,000 cards across twelve topics. Everyday, Food, Animals & Nature, Technology, Conversation and Sayings are the casual choices. Movie, TV, Video Game, Football, Basketball and Music categories let your group choose familiar subjects. Mix topics or focus on one.
Choose Easy for more direct sound-alikes or Tricky for longer phrases with more disguised word boundaries. Gets harder is the default: it starts with Easy clues, then moves into Tricky ones. The lobby shows the available cards for your selection.
Questions before you play
Do I need a microphone or voice chat?
No. Answers are typed, so you can play without giving microphone permission. Saying the clues aloud helps you hear them. Use the in-game text chat to talk between guesses, or use your own voice call if you prefer.
Can I play this gibberish game alone?
Yes. Create a private lobby and start with one player. Solo play uses the same clues, timers, scoring and difficulty options as a multiplayer match.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. Play in your phone or tablet browser, or on a computer. Each player joins the online lobby on their own device with an internet connection.
What if a clue feels unfair or my answer is rejected?
At the end of the match, every player can rate the clues they saw. Mark a clue as good or report an issue such as an unfamiliar answer, awkward pronunciation, or an answer that was not accepted. Feedback does not change your score.
